With Squeakie feat. Mya Byrne at Hyde Street Studios
Song: We’re America Too
Performer: Squeakie feat. Mya Byrne
My Role: Recording/Mix Engineer
Recorded: April 24, 2025
What an honor to record this talented band and their guest artist, queer Americana icon Mya Byrne, performing this incredibly powerful protest song. This was my first solo engineering experience at the legendary Hyde Street Studios. Recorded on a vintage Neve 8038 console in Hyde Street’s Studio A, this session included electric guitars, bass, drums, fiddle, pedal steel, vocals, harmonica and hand percussion. This single was mastered by Piper Payne.

Hosts: Richard Kim and Justin Tiwald
My Role: Recording Engineer
Recorded: April 17, 2025
This podcast episode was recorded live in a small, untreated conference room at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco’s Union Square. This Is The Way, a Hong Kong-based podcast, came to San Francisco for an American Philosophical Association conference and received a sponsorship from the Hong Kong Ethics Lab to record their first-ever episode with a guest speaker and live audience, including a wireless mic for Q&A. This episode was mixed and edited by Lena Li in Hong Kong.

Side Pony and the recording crew
Song: Queen of Cups
Performer: Side Pony
My Role: Lead Engineer/Mix Engineer
Recorded: November 18, 2023
My first experience as lead engineer on a recording session, including coordinating with the band, choosing the mics and supervising their placement, running the Trident 88 console and mixing the song in Pro Tools. It was a joy to work with this sweet, fierce, queerpunk band from Oakland, CA.

This mix was chosen for the Festival of the Moving Image at the Roxie Theater, December 10, 2023.
Song: 2045
Performer: Renee Harcourt
My Role: Mix Engineer
This recording session was given to me to mix as a class project, and I fell in love with the eclectic variety of sounds and with the lyrical musings of a woman beginning to suspect that all is not well with her charmed life. The assignment was to add MIDI instrument content to the project, which I did using Pro Tools Xpand!2 during the solo and outro.
